A wall mounted washing machine? You’re having a laugh!
I know that I normally write about brand new computer accessories, or running gadgets that are really awesome so I buy and then never use, but I thought that today I would write about something a little bit closer to home. Every home has one, it sits in the corner of the kitchen or in the utility room, its a massive, mean cleaning machine! The humble washing machine is simply known as the appliance that washes clothes, and making a racket on the fast spin.
However, Electrolux seem to have revolutionised the concept of the washing machine, making it wall mounted, and can apparantly add to a calm atmosphere. The Electrolux Shine, aims to take the washing machine out of the kitchen and into the bathroom, having a white porcelain finish designed to match with bathroom furniture, as opposed to the current silver kitchen utensil things that go with the cooker, dishwasher and fridge. There are two types, wall mounted, which blends in with wall mounted bathroom cabinets and lights, and a floor standing model which blends in the bathroom furniture.
Calum Armstrong, Electrolux Industrial Design Manager, Fabric Care said “The bathroom is more of a relaxation room than a cleansing room, the SHINE concepts are thoroughly connected to this with our intention to contribute to a therapeutic atmosphere, akin to Japanese culture.” The light ring around the door isn’t just an eye catching decoration, it changes with the cycle stage, so as the wash progresses, the door lights up in a clockwise manner, a new idea compared to the top of the line LCD’s and LED washing machines with time displays.
The Electrolux Shine is a remarkable concept, having a wall mounted washing machine that doesn’t look nice, but could also mean not bending down to unload the washing. And it doesn’t even look like a washing machine, it looks like a piece of art anyone would love on their wall. We aren’t just bringing the washing machine to the bathroom, we are adding some style too.
