Fan Of Home & Away (Closer Each Day…)

A few years ago, when I used to get extremely excited about argos discount codes and what was happening in Home & Away (I still get excited, but it’s not the same since Alf Stewart’s wife died…Ailsa was her name, I think, but don’t quote me on that spelling, I was always more into Neighbours actually), movies were so different than the movies of today, weren’t they? Back then, horror films hadn’t really made their way onto the big screen. Yes, they’d established themselves as cult and gained legions of fans, but they’d not really broken into mainstream success.

That was, until Saw came along.

Now, I’m not a huge fan of anything beyond Saw 2 – to me it just seemed gratuitous, but that’s not really my point – but Saw, the original film, that is, was special. Low budget and shocking, the film changed the game and got millions of mainstream audiences with previously no interest in horror to go to the silver screen to watch blood and gore. Which is something of an achievement I’d say. Yes, not a day goes by when I don’t think Why didn’t I think of that!

It remains to be seen where horror will go next, because we’ve sort of seen it all, haven’t we? We’ve had the video nasty era of the 1970s, and now we’ve had the Saw films with all their ultra realistic blood and guts and nasty cliff-hanger endings, so perhaps it’ll be ghost films next? Paranormal Activity did well and the sequel is coming out soon, so maybe that’s the answer right there, then…Which is not necessarily a good thing if you ask me. I mean, isn’t it time we had something a little different? Something that REALLY broke the movie making mould?Similar Posts:
