Buy A Kindle, Go On
I have just bought a Kindle. Here is my brief review of all the various features. You should seriously consider buying a Kindle, and here’s why (and I don’t even get any commission from Amazon honest, so there!).
1) The fact it is so light: I am not big on the numbers, so I have no idea how light the Kindle actually is, but let me tell you it weighs NOTHING. OK, so that’s an outrageous lie. Even the air in the air weighs something. But honest, it’s a lot lighter than most books and can be held in one hand. That makes reading in bed a doddle.
2) But it’s like a computer: no, it isn’t. The screen is made up of e-ink, or the letters I should say. This means that the readability is really quite good. You can read for hours at a time and it’s so much better than reading off a computer screen.
3) Downloads happen FAST: I advise buying the 3G version, as this means you can download a book / newspaper anywhere in the UK (or world, I think). You can also check your emails on the web browser, although I wouldn’t make a habit of this, as it wastes the battery and also the browser isn’t actually very good. Good for emergencies though.
4) The fact that the Kindle lasts for a long time: the battery life is obscene. I mean really. If you use it most days it will probably last for 2 or 3 weeks. A month is pushing it – which Amazon say it lasts for, but I am dubious – but still, it’s not half bad, eh?
5) Bad points: it’s not without some negative feedback, this review. I mean, one of the most irritating things about buying books is how EASY it is to buy them. When you go to the Kindle store it automatically high-lights the BUY button as well, so before you know it you’ve bought An A To Z Of Chicken Recipes by complete accident.
6) But all in all it’s great, so just go and buy one.
